DDK 2022: Our year in review

Modern, light kitchen

As we approach the end of another year, Dream Doors Kitchens is looking back on everything we’ve achieved over the past 12 months. Taking the time to reflect on how far we’ve come gives us the chance to celebrate the successes of our network and enter 2023 with renewed enthusiasm and passion.

The kitchen renovation industry in 2022

The last few years were rough for a lot of us, with the many lockdowns forcing people to spend a lot of time at home. However, this difficult time has given people the time to finally invest in themselves. This has resulted in a value shift and spurred people to invest more into making spaces they love. As a result, home improvement has risen high up the priority list and stayed there throughout 2022.

The amount spent on home improvements has been rising as well. In fact, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, renovators are investing up to $12.3 billion transforming their homes, which is up 33% from 2020 and almost double the amount they were spending 10 years ago.

Home owners are also beginning to realise how much value renovations, and in particular kitchen renovations, can add to their return on investment. This has resulted in increased demands for quality upgrades that can help increase market value – demands that we’ve been able to support our customers with.

With one in every 50 kitchens renovated by DDK, the widespread need for home improvements has given us the chance to hone our craft and bring evolution to our iconic kitchen facelifts.

The highlights

We’re really proud of what we’ve done throughout the year, and we want to take the time to acknowledge our wins. Here are our 2022 highlights:

A multi award-winning franchise

For the last four years, DDK has been rated Overall Top 10 at the Top Franchise Awards. These awards exist to recognise the best practice of franchise businesses across six categories; marketing, branding, passion, lifestyle, and innovation. To have our efforts acknowledged again in 2022 is a great honour.

We are committed to our customers and our franchisees, so we’re thrilled that our business model has been validated as an effective way to support our partners and give them the tools they need to serve their customers. We will continue to conduct ourselves as worthy of a Top 10 spot in 2023.

Selling In The City partnership

This year we had the exciting opportunity to bring our kitchen facelifts and designs to the national stage as a supplier and consultant for the Foxtel series, Selling In The City. This show focuses on getting the most out of urban dwellings through renovations and transformations in order to dress them up for sale. Using our trusted kitchen facelift process and creative new designs, we were able to update the kitchens of two inner-city residences in Kingsford and Marrickville.

We’re thrilled to have had the chance to showcase our capabilities around organising, scheduling, customer relationships and project coordination within tight timeframes and unique environments. Plus, Australians love a renovation show, so being a part of one was major highlight for DDK.

The feedback we got from the producers and designers was amazing, and we were pleased to bring our knowledge to these projects. We want to thank our amazing Nationally Approved Suppliers; Tesrol, Nover, Hafele, Forbena Cabinets and Uniquip stonemasons for their contributions. We couldn’t have done it without your world-class products.

Extending our reach

Over the last year, we have grown our network to 33 franchise territories across Australia. Having more people in the DDK family means that the shared knowledge of the business has expanded, with new perspectives and expertise being bought to the table. We can also help more people with our quality, affordable kitchen renovations, and this year we completed hundreds of facelifts around the nation.

We’ve also been investing efforts into expanding even further. This year, our Head Office team attended the Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo in Brisbane and Sydney. These expos intend to help would-be business owners turn ambition into action with insider tips, expert advice, and the chance to talk face-to-face with leading franchisors. We had the opportunity to chat with like-minded, aspiring business owners about running a successful DDK franchise within a growing, in-demand industry. This helps to plant the seed, and we hope to bring even more franchisees into our network in the new year.

Onwards to 2023

2022 has been a great success, and a big thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, from our franchisees, to our customers and to our suppliers. We’re excited to embark on a whole new journey with you in 2023, and we know that the demand for our services shows no signs of slowing down. We’re excited to continue to support customers into 2023 and beyond.
